Wilson man critically injured

I-35 southbound shut down for 1 1/2 hours at Wayne

A one-vehicle accident Monday night closed southbound Interstate 35 for  1 1/2 hours at mile marker 85 approximately one mile southwest of Wayne.

A 2021 International semi driven by Samuel K. Lewis, 31, of Wilson ran off the road to the right, went up an embankment striking a concrete wall of an overpass, then went airborne coming down on the other side of the overpass on its wheels at 10:45 p.m.

Lewis sustained head, arm and leg injuries and was transported by Medi-Flight to OU Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition.

Lewis was pinned in his vehicle for approximately 22 minutes before being freed by the Wayne Fire Department.

Trooper Cory Byrne investigated for the OHP. He was assisted by Trooper Bryan Landers, the McClain County Sheriff’s Department and Wayne Firefighters.
