Four Purcell powerlifters competed at the State Powerlifting Meet this past Friday at McLoud. Dillon Helling placed fourth in the 157 pound class with a 360 squat, a 240 bench and a 460 deadlift for a total of 1,065 pounds. Brandon Rolin placed fourth in the 275 pound class with a 485 squat, a 315 bench and a 625 deadlift for a total of 1,425 pounds. Blake Riley placed fifth in the 275 pound class with a 530 squat, a 320 bench and a 545 deadlift for a total of 1,395 pounds. Nick Gonzales finished in 11th place in the 123 pound class with a squat of 215, bench of 150 and a deadlift of 305 for a total of 670 pounds. Each lifter was in a weight class that had 24 other lifters who had qualified for state.
Lexington High School powerlifters competed at Regionals. The team won 2A Regional Champions overall. Nick Bridgeford placed first and won Outstanding Squat with a squat of 700 pounds. Luis Solis placed second, Tyler Brown, John Burton and Austin Bridgeford placed fourth and Evan Plavchak placed sixth. All of the lifters qualified to go to the State Meet March 14. Washington’s Lady Warriors won by 28 points in the Area finals, clobbering Bethel 78-50 to advance to the State Tournament in Oklahoma City this weekend.
