Wayne splits games with OKC Knights

Bulldogs lose close one, 58-57

Last Tuesday, Wayne was in Oklahoma City for a game with the Knights.

Despite jumping out in front 21-17 after the first quarter, OKC roared back to take the 31-27 lead at halftime. Wayne chipped away in the third, outscoring OKC 13-11. But, that wasn’t enough to pull out the win as they matched each other with 17 points each in the fourth for Wayne to fall by 1 point.

Jaxon Dill and Wyatt Webster were both in double figures with 20 and 19, respectively.

Webster, a beast on the boards, also had 20 rebounds.

Ben Fisher and Ty Kemp each added eight.

Wayne was off for Christmas break and will resume their schedule on January 2 when they will be in Lexington.

Girls

Behind Taelyn Ringwald’s 18 points and 15 rebounds and Faith Brazell’s 10  points, Wayne beat the OKC Lady Knights 44-37.

Brazell also had five rebounds and five assists.

Wayne took an 18-11 lead after one quarter and held on to the one point lead, 27-26, at halftime.

Defense tightened in the second half as Wayne held OKC to just 11 points total through the third and fourth quarters. That opened Wayne’s lead to win the game by seven.

Audra Watts contributed eight points and six rebounds in the win.

Madi Sharp had five points and five rebounds.

Wayne was off for Christmas break and will be back on the court January 2 when they travel to Lexington.
