Walters is bad news

Posted

It’s not really a news bulletin that State Superintendent Ryan Walters is a bit on the eccentric side.

And that’s putting it mildly.

He has been less than transparent in his approach to the office so much so that the Oklahoma House of Representatives issued a subpoena to force Walters to produce certain documents and information no later than 3 p.m. January 5.

State Rep. Mark McBride, R-Moore, said Walters has complied with the subpoena.

Truth is, however, they shouldn’t have to issue a subpoena for Walters to be transparent.

With schools still on holiday break there is a shortage of sporting news but that will soon change.

Purcell, Lexington, and Wayne all get back on the hardwood next Tuesday night.

Wayne plays at Lexington while Purcell travels to Bridge Creek.

The Washington girls travel to Ada for the prestigious Bertha Frank Teague Mid-America Classic basketball tournament this weekend, Dec. 28-30.

Washington’s boys will play in the Noble Tournament January 4-6 while Purcell’s boys and girls play in the Verdigris Tournament that weekend.

Lexington will play in the Davis Tournament January 4-6 while Wayne plays in the Graham Tournament that weekend.

For those who may not know where Graham is you are not alone.

Graham is an unincorporated community in Carter County north and east of Healdton and south and east of Fox.
