Schmidt, Dye appreciated

Purcell and this entire area has been blessed for the past several decades to have had the services of Dr. Bryan Dye and Dr. Rick Schmidt.

Schmidt has practiced here for the past 37 years while Dye moved to Purcell in June of 1990.

As those of you who have utilized their services you know they are much, much more than just physicians.

They become like family members and many of you have said so to me.

As you will read on the front page of this week’s Purcell Register times are changing in the medical field with hospitalists taking over the in-patient visits to Purcell Municipal Hospital.

But what you will also read is that the commitment of those two family practice doctors to this area has not changed.

And it won’t.

We appreciate their professionalism and look forward to utilizing their services in the years to come.

There is some discussions going on about a recent survey as to Native Americans living here with respect to them using city water.

As it turns out you didn’t have to have a roll number to be counted as Native American for the survey.

If you had a great, great,great, great grandfather or grandmother who was Native American that would count.

And it all goes back to the Chickasaw Nation wanting to help provide water for use here.

Whatever percentage of the population is Native American the Chickasaws will fund that portion of a water project.
