Funeral services for JD Kindard, 90, of Washington will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the Washington First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. Kinard passed away Friday, March 29, 2024.

Born January 3, 1934 in Maysville, JD was the second of eight children born to Cumbie and Mary Tennessee (Smith) Kinard. He spent his early years in Pauls Valley where he began school, before moving to Wynnewood. He graduated with the Savages Class of 1952.

JD joined the United States Navy in 1952 and served his country proudly as a member of the Air Transport Squadron #5.

Back home on leave, he noticed a young lady named Mary Ann Turner, and he knew she was the one. They eventually married on August 3, 1956 in Walker, Okla. They first made their home in Norman before settling in Washington in 1973. Together they raised four children, Susan, Terri, Julie and David.

JD worked as a Computer Programmer for the FAA for more than 30 years, and as a consultant in retirement. JD was a “do it yourself” guy, who was always busy, and his work was his hobby. He was a huge football fan and an avid supporter of the Washington Warriors and the OU Sooners programs.

He was active in his community, serving on the Washington School Board and longtime Commander of the American Legion Post # 310. He was instrumental in the construction of the Goldsby Veteran Memorial and was so proud of their work with the project.

JD’s greatest legacy was his faith. He was a longtime member of the Washington First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Clint Barnes; his wife, Mary Ann Kinard; parents, Cumbie Kinard and Mary Tennessee Kinard Williams; siblings, Lorene Faye Kinard, CB Kinard and Earl Lynn Kinard and his grand pups, Thor and Stryder Rinaldi.

JD is survived by his children, Susan Barnes and husband, Coen, of Washington, Terri Harris and husband, Mark, of Enid, Julie Rinaldi and husband, Richard, of Norman and David Kinard and wife, Linda, of Maysville; siblings, Ada Lindsay of Fort Worth, Texas, Donald Ray Kinard of Wynnewood, Jerry Dale Kinard of Ardmore, Lotena Pearl Forewood of Wynnewood and Loaney Tennessee Albright and husband, Robert, of Wynnewood; grandchildren, Lance and Keri Barnes of Washington, Chase Barnes of Canton, Ohio, George and Skye Hodges of Etowah, NC, Jim and Kara Harris of Enid, Okla., Terri Lisa Harris of Edmond, Jake and Aubrey Kinard of Moore, Dylan Kinard of Maysville and his grand pup Shelby; great-grandchildren, Talance Clint Barnes, Braxon Gage Barnes, Starling LaRae Harris, Jack Dawsen Kinard, Remi Elizabeth Kinard,  JD Harris and June Marie Harris; bonus grandchildren, Blayke Kaylen Kyle, Quincy and Brittaney Jones, Kadence Elaine Jones, Phoenix Grace Jones and Tizzi Faye Scott; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
