From mutton busting to bare back bronc riding and everything in between, this weekend is the annual Indian Territory Roundup Club Rodeo.

There will be timed events and bull riding each night, starting at 8 p.m. Mutton busting begins at 7 p.m. both nights with belt buckles awaiting the winners.

All mutton busters must be six years old or younger and register on site.

There will also be $750 dollars added to each event and $150 added to junior barrels.

Rodeo royalty will also be crowned over the weekend.

“There will be two rodeo royalty contestants, Myah Padilla and Berit McGinley,” said rodeo organizer Leslie Padilla. “They have been out selling sponsorships to put on the rodeo and they’ve sold a lot.”

She said organizing the rodeo is a year-round process.

“We put a lot of time and effort into putting this rodeo together and it takes a lot of sponsorships,” Padilla said. “Purcell always backs us up a lot and we appreciate that.”

There will be a parade in downtown Purcell Saturday at 11 a.m.

There will be food trucks available and a mechanical bull to ride. Admission is $10 at the gate and $8 in advance from ITRC Royalty Contestants.

The rodeo is produced by Big Horn Rodeo Co.

It all happens at the McClain County Expo and Fairgrounds arena on Hardcastle Blvd.
