Tonight’s the night!

The Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is tonight (Thursday), December 14, on Main Street in Purcell.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the parade to start at 6 p.m.

The theme this year is “Anything Christmas in the Heartland.”

The Purcell Public Library will present “Creativity Unleasshed: No Sew Fleece Gifts” Tuesday, December 19, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Explore your interests and discover one of the many ways that you can express yourself through no sew fleece projects. The program is designed for adults.

We all have an inner artist. Join us in discovering the endless possibilities of your creativity. You will be guided through this program exploring no sew fleece projects like bags, scarfs, and blankets. Basic scissor skills are required.

We have fleece perfect for gifts for the children in your life! Come to produce your own work of art.

Supplies will be provided. If you have a favorite pair of fabric scissors, please feel free to bring them.

Purcell’s Lights From the Heart at Chandler Park will be open nightly through Sunday, December 31, from 5:30-10 p.m.

Over two miles of lights are available to drive through.

Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

McClain County Treasurer Teresa Jones reminds property owners in the county that 2023 tax statements have been mailed.

Full or half payments are due before January 1.

The treasurer’s office can email tax statements if it is requested.

Property owners can also print out their tax statements by going online to oktaxrolls.com.

This is great recipe for your holiday meal. It comes from my good friend, Eulene Webester.

Seven Layer Salad

Layer of lettuce, about 1 inch

Small bunch of broccoli, chopped, stem off

Red onion rings

1 lb. bacon fried crisp, crumbled

Box of frozen English peas

8 oz. shredded cheese

8 oz. Hellman’s mayonnaise

Layer each ingredient starting with the lettuce.

Top with shredded cheese and finish with mayonnaise

Cover with plastic and refrigerate overnight.
