Florine V. Weatherford Gilbert died surrounded by family on March 10, 2024, in Wanette, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years 4 months 5 days. A private family service will be held at a later date, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Florine was born April 5, 1936, in Wanette, Oklahoma, to Newton and Beulah (Malacoate) Collier. Throughout her formative years in Wanette, she absorbed the essence of her community, culminating in her graduation in 1954.
On September 27 of that same year, she embarked on a lifelong journey with Dale Weatherford, shaping a warm and nurturing home back in Wanette where their family blossomed. They were together for more than 36 years before Dale’s passing in 1991. She later married Beacher Gilbert.
Florine’s benevolent spirit shone brightly as she selflessly served as a beacon of guidance to many through her roles as a devoted 4-H and FFA leader. In the tapestry of her life, Florine found solace and joy in the simpler pleasures—fishing, camping and gardening spoke to her soul. The wanderlust within her led to delightful adventures through travel and the 29 Carnival Cruises she took, weaving memories that sparkled like precious gems in the treasury of her existence.
Above all else, Florine’s heart overflowed with love for her family; every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren was a testament to the depth of that affection. As we bid farewell to Florine, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life enriched by love, laughter and an unwavering devotion to those dear to her. May her light continue to illuminate our paths even in her absence.
Florine was preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Beulah Collier; her husband, Dale Weatherford; her husband, Beacher Gilbert; and her four sisters.
Survivors include her son, David Weatherford; her son, Dale Weatherford; her daughter, Deborah Weatherford; her grandchildren, Brittanie and husband, Nathan, Bryan and wife, Italie, Dakota, Derrick and DJ; and numerous other relatives and friends.
