This time, Lexington came out firing and beat the Longhorns 68-55 to move on to the Consolation championship.

“We played really well. We had Skylar (Rollins) back and having a big man inside made a difference. He was a big helper in rebounding,” Thetford said.

Four Bulldogs finished in double figures, led by Dierking with 16. Faulkenberry added 15 while Ty Mixon had 14 and Hunter Olson had 12.

Lexington outscored the Longhorns in the three of the four quarters. They matched each other with 20 points in the fourth.

“We grew up in this tournament and I feel like we have some momentum going into the second half of the season. That will be super important and I think it will help us find our groove and help us to accomplish our goals,” head coach Jacobi Couch said.

Kiely Givens and Addie Lippel were named to the All-Tournament team.

“Both girls had a really good tournament. Addie was in double figures in all three games and Kiely was a helper on the boards and in scoring,” Couch said.

Nine Lady ‘Dawgs scored in the win.

Couch also mentioned Lexie Torres.

“Lexie  had a good tournament. Her name doesn’t always show up in the stats, but she does a lot to help us have extra possessions. Her speed and aggressiveness are helpers.

“Abby Sample was also a big helper in the Wynnewood tournament. She hit some big shots and helped us get our momentum going in tight games,” Couch said.
