Clyde Lee McAfee

Clyde Lee McAfee, better known as (Peanut), was born December 18, 1953 to Donald R. McAfee and Jacquetta (Bonner) McAfee and passed away peacefully at his home in Temple, Texas, on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the age of 70.

He grew up in Byars, Oklahoma, and Silver City, New Mexico. He graduated from Ada High School in 1972. Joined the Marines in 1972 and served in the Marine Corp until 1976. Served in the Coast Guard for 21 years and retired with the rank of AT1(E-6). He was employed at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas, until he retired in 2019.

He married Lou Ann Murphy on January 18, 2014, after being together since August 1996 and made their home in Temple, Texas. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, exploring the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico and Colorado.

He was an avid fan of college football and NFL football. He had a great love for animals. His furry pups included Maverick, Katie, Gidget, Daisy and one cat named Joe.

He is survived by his wife Lou Ann McAfee of the home; daughter, Tawnya McAfee of Wanette, Oklahoma; son, Aaron McAfee of England; mother, Jacquetta Johnson of Byars, Oklahoma; brother, Dennis (Bo) McAfee and wife, Vickie McAfee, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald R. McAfee; grandparents, Clyde and Tajuana Bonner and Buster and Violet McAfee and great-grandparents.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Byars Cemetery in Byars, Oklahoma.
