Posted

Funeral services for Charles Quincy Moore, 87, of Purcell were held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the New Mission Holiness Church in Purcell. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. Moore entered Heaven’s Gates Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

Charles was born July 4, 1936 in Milfay, Okla., the oldest of three children born to Earl Otto Moore and Bessie Irene (Cannon) Moore. He was raised in Stroud and attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1954.

Charles married his best friend and life partner, Lola Maye Case on January 8, 1955. They surrendered their hearts and home to the Lord Jesus, and served selflessly as members of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

In 1957, Charles began working for the T.H. Rogers Lumber Company in Okmulgee. By 1962, they had settled in Purcell where they raised their children, son Steve and daughter Debi.  Charles worked for the Purcell T.H. Rogers until 1997, retiring as Manager.

He was proud to have served his community as a volunteer on the Purcell Fire Department for more than 20 years. Retirement looked different for Charles, as he began working for Wilson-Little Funeral Home. His tender heart and love for others served him well in ministry to the bereaved. When he wasn’t working, he was probably fishing, never missing an opportunity to wet a hook.

He was a longtime and faithful member of the New Mission Holiness Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a trusted friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lola Moore;  his parents, Earl and Irene Moore;  his sister, Earlene Dervin and brother, Melvin Moore.

Charles is survived by his son, Steve Moore and wife, Gayla, of Purcell; daughter, Debi Cottrell and husband, Alan, of Blanchard; grandsons and their wives, Brock and Jenny Moore of Purcell, Brandon and Brandie Moore of Purcell, Bradley and Janelle Cottrell of Blanchard and Brett and Breanna Cottrell of Blanchard; great-grandsons, Riley and Daxton Moore and Harrison and Hayes Cottrell; great-granddaughters, Brooklyn, Brynlie and Brielle Moore and Hayden Cottrell and a host of other family and friends.
