Bad news on magazine

This is the week the football preview magazine was supposed to be inserted into your Purcell Register.

We interviewed coaches, coaches’ wives and took all kinds of pictures.

Emily Montgomery did most of the layout while David Stull laid out the cover.

Everything was done like we have done for over 30 years.

Rosters.

Preview of the teams on the schedule, etc.

The hitch in the git-a-long came on the printer’s end of the popular publication.

A burned out motor on the press has caused the magazine to come out a week later than we would have wanted or liked.

It will still come out just not this week.

We sincerely apologize.

The ribbon cutting at the Rotary Playground at the Purcell City Lake on Saturday was a rousing success.

Well over 100 people came out for the opening of the park where Parks & Rec staff doled out 170 hot dogs and 245 snow cones.

Vice Mayor Ted Cox made remarks as did Purcell Parks & Recreation Director John Blue.

Many people and organizations have supported the project with donations of time, money, and effort, and the city would like to acknowledge them.

They include: the Purcell City Council and City Leadership, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the Purcell Tourism Committee, Community Youth Activity Program, Pruitt Quality Homes, Rockstar Roofing, Allen Farms, the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce, McClain Bank, First United Bank, Bohon Roofing, Ted Cox, CPA and the Holiday Inn of Purcell.

Also, the Purcell Rotary Club, Jesse Bain with Edward Jones, Cline Monument, Tim and Gale Wilson, Kerry and Sharie Wilhoit, Minick Materials, Play and Park Structures, Lighthouse Recreation and the City of Purcell Staff.
