Janie Starlien Wilkerson died May 5, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years 10 months 1 day. Graveside Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Janie was born July 4, 1957, in Germany, to Franklin and Dorothy (Lockmiller) Methvin. Throughout her days, Janie adorned life with a serene demeanor, finding solace in the simplicity of watching classic TV shows and indulging the art of crafting, be it through macrame or needlepoint. Her hands weaved tales of creativity and beauty, leaving behind intricate masterpieces that spoke volumes of her inner grace.
Janie worked in all facets of the food service industry. Yet, beyond her creative pursuits and her work, Janie sought nourishment for the soul. A devout heart led her to the doors of Life Christian Church, where she found not just a place of worship but a sanctuary of peace and community. Her faith illuminated her path and guided her steps along the journey of life.
Janie was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Methvin; her daughter, Jamie Wilkerson; and her son, Van Wilkerson.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Methvin; her sisters, Hiawathia Stephens and Judy Stephens and husband, Tony; and numerous other relatives and friends.
