Mid-America Technology Center hosted a candidate forum for State Senate candidates for District 43.

Incumbent Senator Jessica Garvin and challenger and current McClain County Assessor Kendal Sacchieri answered questions from MATC Superintendent Mike Eubank, speaking to area school superintendents and some MATC employees Monday morning at the center.

Eubank opened the forum by telling those in attendance both women are conservative Republicans, both are family oriented, unapologetically women of faith, pro-life, support and protect the second amendment, are for governmental accountability and protect girls and preserve women’s sports.

Each candidate told about themselves and their families and then were asked eight questions by Eubank.

  • Why are you running for Senator for District 43?
  • What is the largest problem to solve in public education?
  • What is the largest problem to solve in District 43?
  • How do you feel about public schools receiving federal funding for student meals?
  • What is your definition of school choice and what limitations would you support to school choice?
  • What would you seek to change regarding Oklahoma Public Schools’ Board of Education?
  • With the addition of the Chickasaw Hospital, the largest employment gap in District 43  will be in health care. What would be your approach to supplying the over 7,000 employees, specifically nurses, needed in that area?
  • Have you ever had to terminate an employee?

Lunch was served after the questions were answered.
