An oil field accident Wednesday, September 20, just after 5 p.m. has claimed the life of a Pauls Valley man.

At 5:15 p.m. units responded to an oil field site around 170th and Gallamore within the unincorporated area near the Town of Wayne.

McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter said Darrell Newton, 30, was working at the site when he became unresponsive.

He was transported to Purcell Municipal Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Offolter reported his department is continuing its investigation.
Newton is survived by a wife and three children.
