Thomas Maxwell McCurdy III, 56, of Norman passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 after a sudden illness.

Known to all as “Tom-Tom”, he was born April 5, 1964 in Purcell, Okla., to Rose Mantooth McCurdy of Purcell, Okla., and Tom McCurdy of Norman, Okla.

Tom-Tom graduated from Purcell High School in 1982.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant while playing on the Men’s Varsity Tennis Team. In 2001, he received a master’s degree from East Central University.

Tom-Tom worked for OG&E for and most recently as a Community Affairs Manager in Norman. He married Betsy Abbott in 1998 and in 2001 he became the proud father of Jade Elizabeth. His favorite pastime was to teach, watch and play golf with Jade. He was Jade’s biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. 

Survivors in addition to his wife, Betsy Abbott McCurdy, are his daughter, Jade McCurdy; mother, Rose ‘RoRo’ McCurdy of Purcell; father, Tom McCurdy of Norman; sister, Lisa Bajema and husband, Steve, of Norman; sister, Lynn McCurdy of Purcell; sister, Candy McCurdy of Purcell; brother, John McCurdy of Purcell; several nieces and nephews and friends from all over the country.

No services are scheduled at this time. The family would love to meet and remember Tom- Tom, when we can share hugs and our favorite stories.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas McCurdy III Memorial Scholarship of Purcell High School in care of McClain Bank, 2900 W. Lindsey, Norman, OK 73072.
