Stella “Louise” Burton, a Ketchum, Okla., area resident, passed peacefully on July 20, 2023.

Louise was born on March 8, 1943 in Wanette, Okla., to Guy Austin and Stella Brown Austin and lived in the Lexington/Purcell and Norman area for most of her life. After retirement she moved to the Grand Lake area to be near family.

Louise attended vocational school to earn her LPN in 1967 and later went on to earn her BSN. She was involved in various types of nursing over the years. She retired form the Oklahoma State Health Department as a District Nurse Manager She was a member of the DAR and Church of Christ.

Louise loved traveling, genealogy and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment with them.

Louise was a loving mother, grandmother - “Nana”, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by many. 

Louise is survived by her sister, Margaret Phillips; children, Lisa Landry, Carla Ballard and husband, Stephen, and Jeff Burton and wife, Claudia Burton; grandchildren, Dustin Lee and wife, Emily, Jade Landry, Daniel Landry, Adam Ballard, Ryan Ballard and wife, Lauren, and Hillary Shahan and husband, Jeffrey; great-grandchildren, Stella and Hank Lee, Johanna, Patrick Graham and Nora Ballard and Lawson Shahan along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A private celebration of life will be held on August 5, 2023 near Ketchum.
