Lexington spent their weekend in the Sterling Shootout where they finished with three wins (Geronimo twice and Waukomis), a loss to Lookeba-Sickles and a 1-1 tie with Mangum.

Last Tuesday they picked up a 9-2 win over Morris.

Senior Briley Lacquement had eight strikeouts on the way to the Lexington win.

The Lady ‘Dawgs collected 13hits including three from Mackenzie Manuel (who also had three RBIs) and two each from Lexie Torres, Merabelle Neilson, Brodie Anderson and Lacquement.

Southwest Shootout

Lexington faced Geronimo in their first game of the 30-team tournament and picked up the 1-0 win.

With the score knotted at 0-0 through four innings, an error in the fifth inning scored their only run. They then held Geronimo scoreless to seal the win.

Torres had two hits in the win and Kora Parker had one.

Anderson was in the circle for Lexington and she stacked up ten strikeouts in the shutout win.

In their next game, Lexington beat Lookeba-Sickles 4-5.

Neilson, with two hits, led the Lady ‘Dawgs at the plate. Manuel had one hit.

Lexington scored first when a ground out by Lacquement put a run on the board. They added one more run in the fourth, but couldn’t overcome Lookeba’s four spot in the third.

Lacquement was in the circle for the loss and fanned nine batters.

That loss sent Lexington to the loser’s bracket where they faced Rush Springs in a 9-7 win.

Behind eight hits and nine RBIs, Lexington won in walk-off fashion when Peyton Harmon hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth.

Mackenzie Manuel was 3-3 at the plate with four RBIs, including a two-run homer in the third.

Lacquement and Anderson split time in the circle and collected 10 strikeouts together.

With the win over Rush Springs, Lexington moved on to play Waukomis.

They shutout the Lady Chiefs, 12-0.

Lexington jumped out in front with six runs in the first inning when Manuel doubled to score one, Anderson tagged up to score one, Charlie Ross doubled to score two and Torres walked to score one.

They added six more in the second inning to pick up the run-rule win.

In their final game of the tournament, Lexington played Mangum but lost 2-1 after a forfeit in the fourth inning.

“We had some injuries to our pitchers and another at a stock show and we were just out of  pitching so we had to forfeit,” head coach Monty Ervin said

They collected two hits, one each from Torres and Neilson and scored just one run on an error in the first inning.

The Lady ‘Dawgs are off this week and are scheduled to host Anadarko on Monday.
