Senior quarterback Cadyn Krueger rushed for a touchdown and passed for another and a two-point conversion helping Lexington go to 2-0 on the season with a 14-6 victory over Wayne last Friday night.

Krueger’s rushing score was a 45-yard scamper. He found Jonathan Dodd for a 35-yard touchdown pass. After the touchdown, Krueger hit Colby Haynes for the two-point conversion.

“I like where we are offensively right now,” head coach Keith Bolles said. “Defensively, we’ve got some things to iron out. Our offense is progressing really well.

“We’ve got to shut out the mental mistakes like fumbles, the holdings and the off sides,” he continued. “We had one 62-yard touchdown run called back due to holding. Instead of a touchdown, it’s first and 20. It’s the little stuff like that where we’ve got to get better.

“Krueger threw the ball well,” Bolles said. “He’s a dual threat. His running and throwing makes it tough on the defense.”

Bolles said his club improved a lot from week one to week two.

Issac Martin played like a beast in the offensive line grading out at 87 percent against Wayne.

“He just had an outstanding game,” Bolles said.

Bolles praised the play of defense lineman Chase Koster. The junior registered 14 tackles against Wayne.

“That’s a pretty good night for a D lineman” the coach said.

“We’re just trying to get better for district play,” he confirmed. “Purcell gives us a great challenge. It’ll help us to play against a team of their caliber and what they do.”

Kickoff for the Purcell-Lexington game is set for 7 p.m. at Conger Field.

“Purcell’s offense is a triple option threat,” Bolles assessed. “They are tough to defend. They do a really good job of running their offense.”

The key to the game, Bolles said, is for his defenders to each play assignment football.

“You can’t try to do somebody else’s job. Each player has to make the plays they are supposed to make and we have to tackle well,” Bolles said.

“Aside from it being a rivalry game but it’s also a big game for us to get better and get ready for district games. This is the last pre-season game for both of us. We have to look to improve both offensively and defensively. Our special teams got better last week,” he concluded.

Bulldog notes:

Bolles nominated Chase Koster as the Defensive lineman of the Week. Koster had 14 tackles including six solo stops.
