Despite winning their first Regional game against Luther, 4-3, the Lexington Lady Bulldogs were knocked out after losses to Bethel, 19-2, and Luther again, 12-7.

They finished with a 14-12 record and will graduate one senior, Baylee Rillema.

Regionals at Bethel

Lexington picked up the 4-3 win over Luther in their first game.

Scoring four runs in the first inning, Lexington was able to hold off a surge of offense from Luther to get the win.

The Lady ‘Dawgs collected 11 hits in the win. Rillema led the team with three hits while Mackenzie Manuel, Hannah Garrett and Cote Garver each had two. Brodie Anderson and Peyton Harmon each had one hit.

That win set up a game with regional host Bethel. The Lady Wildcats were 24-7 heading into Regionals and second in their district behind Washington.

Lexington lost to Bethel, 19-2. They collected two hits – one each from Anderson and Mackenzie.

Bethel jumped out in front first, scoring three runs in the first inning. They added four more runs in the third.

Lexington got on the board in the third with one run pushed across. They added their second run in the fourth inning on a Manuel solo home run.

The loss to Bethel set up a rematch with Luther with the winner moving on to play Bethel again.

It was a tight game with Luther just edging out Lexington on hits, 14-13. Luther won the game 12-7.

Garrett, who went 3-4 at the plate in the loss, collected three hits and had two RBIs.

Anderson, Manuel, Peyton Harmon and Peyton Senn had two hits apiece. Senn finished the game with three RBIs also.

Lexington got on the board with two runs in the top of the first inning. Luther answered with three runs in the bottom of the first. They added two in the second inning, four in the third inning and three more in the fourth.

Lexington added two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings, but they couldn’t climb back in it.
