Lex Cross Country is rebuilding

Two returning runners have high expectations

Lexington Cross Country coach, Brittany Street is in her second season at the helm of the program and is excited about what is to come.

According to Street, 2025 will be a rebuilding year, but she will be relying on two upperclassmen, senior Boston Huffert and junior Lillian Johnson.

“This summer both Boston and Lillian have stepped into the leadership roles. They have helped out with the underclassmen as well as getting our team on the right path,” Street said.

The cross country team was focused on weights for the majority of the summer. They held their first practice on July 15.

Last season, Huffert finished 16th in the state, just missing a medal by one place.

“I expect Boston to be a top ten finisher at State and be competing for All-State honors,” Street said.

Johnson, in her sophomore season, missed being a State qualifier by a couple of places.

“Lillian should qualify for State and hopefully fight for a top 15 spot. She’s a two-miler in track, too, and I believe she’ll improve enough in that event to make it to State,” Street said.

The head coach has a few meets circled on their schedule, including one at North Rock Creek.

“I’m eager to run at North Rock Creek because that will give us good experience with the course that the State meet will be held,” Street said.
