Monday the Lady Bulldogs were in Bray for a game with the Donkettes. They won 9-2.

“Maddie and Alyssa had two of our better plays. Maddie had a homerun and Alyssa had a great diving catch in the outfield. She did a good job of sliding under the ball to make the grab,” head coach Nikki Herrin said.

Moreno hit for the cycle with her first-inning homerun, a triple in the seventh, a double in the third and a single in the fifth.

Hobson was 3-4 at the plate with three triples. Taelyn Ringwald, Audra Watts, Ava Stottlemyre and Lily Whitaker were each 2-4 at the plate in the win over Bray-Doyle.

Last Friday six teams were in Wayne for the their annual festival. The Lady Bulldogs played Asher and AmPo in their two games. They picked up a 6-4 win over Asher but fell to AmPo 8-7.

Wayne Festival

The Lady Bulldogs collected 14 hits in their win over Asher on Friday.

Ringwald and Cylie Jones led the team with three each. Moreno and Alana Digby had two apiece while Watts, Whitaker, Hobson and Scarlett Selzer had one.

Asher was leading 3-0 through the top of the fourth. But, Wayne put up four runs thanks to a double from Jones and a single from Digby that each scored one run. Also a double from Ringwald that scored two.

Asher scored one more in the fifth and Wayne added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the final score 6-4.

In their next game, Wayne jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. AmPo got one run back in the top of the third, then took the lead with four runs in the fifth.

Wayne answered back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead, 7-5.

But, AmPo wouldn’t go quietly. They scored three runs  in the sixth and held Wayne scoreless to pick up the 8-7 win.

“We had one of those innings where things snowball and they scored some runs to go ahead. And we just didn’t have the bats to get the runs back on offense,” Herrin said.

Wayne had nine hits in the loss, led by Addison Clagg and Watts’ two. Moreno, Jones, Whitaker, Hobson and Stottlemyre each had one.

Whitaker drove in five runs.

RWB Conference Tournament

Last Tuesday and Wednesday the Lady Bulldogs were in Stratford for the conference tournament.

They played four games and went 2-2, winning 15-0 over Konawa on Tuesday and 11-3 over Wynnewood on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Stratford and 7-0 to Davis.

They collected 46 hits through four games, including 24 alone in the win over Konawa.

Moreno was the leader at the plate with 10 hits in the tournament. Ringwald was close behind with seven.

“I thought we played well against Konawa and Wynnewood, but just didn’t hit well in our games with Stratford and Davis,” Herrin said.

The Lady Bulldogs were hosting Wetumka on Tuesday then headed to Vanoss on Thursday. They continue their stretch of road games at Varnum next Tuesday.
