Funeral services for Kathy Elaine Ross, 81, of Norman will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Ross passed away October 8, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She was born September 24, 1942 in Lexington, Oklahoma. Kathy was the second of three children born to Eldo Mandel and Opal (Coleman) Watkins. She grew up in and graduated from Purcell High School in 1960 before attending Oklahoma School of Banking.

One Sunday afternoon while riding around with her girlfriend, she met a charming young fellow, Don Ross. The couple went riding around together and the rest is history. The two dated for about two years before they married on June 6, 1963. Kathy and Don were happily married and devoted to each other for 60 years.

Kathy worked for a couple of years with OG&E doing office work, before having children and becoming a full-time homemaker.  The couple had two amazing children, Jeff and Shawnda.  Kathy enjoyed spending time with “her five grandsons” whether that was watching them play ball or just any event-she wouldn’t miss any of it. Her five grandsons were her absolute world.

Kathy and Don enjoyed spending time together traveling and going on cruises were their favorite. She was a good cook and will always be remembered by her lasagna, sweet potatoes and baked beans. Kathy enjoyed riding around with her sister and cousin reminiscing on old homesteads and memories shared when they were younger.

She loved Christmas and focusing on spending time making memories with family instead of cooking and cleaning so Christmas Eve menu was always pizza and this will be a tradition that is carried on. Kathy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Eldo and Opal (Coleman) Watkins; and her sister, Patricia Darlene Watkins.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Don Ross of the home; her son, Jeff Ross and wife, Lisa, of Washington; her daughter, Shawnda Zehr and husband, Jeffrey, of Norman; her sister, Camille Pinion and husband, Jack, of Norman; her five grandsons, Caisen Zehr, Colten Ross, Caiden Zehr, Paicer Zehr and Landen Zehr and a host of family and friends.
