Jerry Dean (Der) Ashford

Jerry Dean Ashford (Der) was born on December 31, 1943 in Miami, Arizona, to Jack and Jean Ashford. He was the youngest of five brothers, Connell Ashford, George Ashford, Dwayne Ashford, and Pate Ashford. Der passed away peacefully in his favorite recliner while sleeping on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

He moved to Oklahoma in 1944 where he attended Blanchard, Valley View and Middleberg Schools. In sixth grade Der moved to Dibble and graduated high school in 1963. He loved playing basketball for the Dibble Demons and had many stories.

In 1964 Der met Sharon at the Eisenhower’s Dairy Queen and were married on July 7, 1965. They were married for 58 years. They had two daughters and three grandsons.

Der had a love for life and his family. He loved to fish, hunt, golf, play dominos, playing poker, watching his garden grow, eating home grown tomatoes, going out to eat, cockfighting, dogs, birdwatching, and watching westerns and gameshows on TV. He was always laughing and telling stories.

Der is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Jacqueline Uhl and husband, Charles Uhl, of Flagler Beach, Fla.; daughter, Sherri Warner and husband, Brian Warner, of Dibble, Okla.; grandson, Brandon Uhl of Gainesville, Fla., and Tyler Uhl and wife, Ariel Uhl, of Riverview, Fla.

Der was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Connell Ashford; infant brother, Dwayne Ashford; infant grandsons, Nolan, Matthew, and Brayden Warner and loving grandson, Levi Warner.
