Cash Dierking was feeling it from beyond the arc with five made 3-point shots against Asher on Monday night.
But the host Indians owned the advantage on the scoreboard and defeated Lexington 69-49.
Sophomore Reece Beason added 10 points for Lexington (1-9), which trailed 42-24 at halftime.
Dierking, also a sophomore and the team’s leading scorer, had nine of the Bulldogs’ 11 points in the third quarter.
“We are 1-9 but I feel like we are progressing and getting better each week,” coach Derek Clark told The Register. “Some guys just need time to figure out how to play together.”
Clark’s team plays Velma Alma on Thursday at the Davis Tournament.
Girls
Senior Lexi Torres scored 22 points — nearly half her team’s total — against Asher, but her teammates didn’t provide much support in a 58-47 road loss to the Lady Indians.
Dulce Rodriguez-Zuniga had 13 points and Sophie Carrington had five points.
“We’ve just got to play better,” coach Jacobi Couch said.
The Bulldogs also play Velma Alma on Thursday.
