Wayne scrimmage no. 2

Tishomingo and Wewoka coming

Wayne will host its second and final scrimmage Thursday at 7 p.m. against Tishomingo and Wewoka.

The scrimmage start time has been pushed back due to the extreme heat in the state.

Wayne’s regular season will open next week when they host Konawa at 7 p.m.

Wayne hosted Empire for a scrimmage last Friday night.

Head coach Brandon Sharp said he saw some things he liked.

“The guys were flying around and had good energy,” He said. “We’re looking for guys to give us great attitudes and great energy.”

There were plenty of things the coach saw that he wants to clean up and the Bulldogs will get a chance to do that Thursday.

“We had some little mistakes that hurt us,” he said. “We didn’t pick up running backs out of the backfield a couple times and we had a few busts.”

Sharp thought his defense did a good job stopping the Empire offense.

The offense found success in the passing game with the duo of junior Jaxon Dill and senior Isaac Hill. The pair connected for a couple touchdowns through the air.

“Jaxon threw the ball well,” Sharp said. “We struggled at times in the run game and missed some reads where if we make the right read it busts off a big play. But that’s the reason you want to have these scrimmages.”
