Top to bottom Washington Head Coach Brad Beller said his team’s performance last Thursday night against Anadarko was their best performance of the season.
Outside of giving up a kick return for a touchdown, Beller gave his squad two thumbs up in a 48-6 victory.
“It was our most complete game of the season on both sides of the ball,” Beller said. “Other than giving up the kick return it was good. We played our younger guys late and they executed really well against the Anadarko starters.”
Beller said the linebacker play of Case Alexander, Gavin Foster and Jaaron Gordon was really good.
“They played extremely well all with eight tackles plus but I’m sure they will tell you its due to the success of defensive linemen Dom Palumbo, Hunter Sanders and Kai Palacol,” the coach said.
The stingy Warrior defenders held Anadarko to 42 yards rushing and 72 yards passing.
“They have a lot of speed and athleticism in their receiver corps so for us to hold them to 3-12 passing for 72 yards that says a lot,” Beller said.
And one of their completions was on a tipped pass.
“Charlie Mann, Jaxon McKinney, Kade Babcock, Rhett Dickerson and Bo Beard did an unbelievable job,” Beller said.
Alexander led the tackling chart with 13 stops including two tackles for loss. Gordon had 10 tackles followed by Foster with eight and one behind the line of scrimmage, McKinney with seven Charlie Mann with five and Babcock with two tackles and an interception.
On the offensive side of the ball, Beller said his Warriors were very balanced rushing for 271 yards and four touchdowns and passing for 209 yards and three scores.
To open the scoring parade junior signal caller Creed Barrett hit Kade Babcock on a 17 yard aerial strike. Barrett also hooked up with Jackson Mays on a 41-yard touchdown toss and found Clive Green open in the third period for 23 yards.
Josiah Dickerson, who rushed the ball 16 times for 180 yards, scored on runs of 22 and nine. Jaxon McKinney slashed in from five yards out in the second quarter. Gavin Foster found the end zone from four yards out in the fourth stanza to close out the Warrior scoring.
“Our offensive line did a great job of controlling the front,” Beller said. “We had several guys involved in the passing game. There were big plays galore and Creed spread the wealth with five different receivers making catches.”
Washington averaged 15 yards a pop on their nine pass receptions.
Up next is Crossing Christian at 7 p.m. Friday night right on the heels of the 2026 homecoming coronation.
Crossings is 2-5 heading into the Washington encounter. They will operate out of a spread on offense and base their defense out of a 4-2 set.
Beller said the key is holding down their big wide receiver.
“They’ve got a really good wide receiver,” the coach noted. “A key to the game will be controlling his big plays and handling the pressure they bring on defense.
“They will bring five and six guys on blitzes. We’ll have to pick that up to get our athletes out in space.”
Warrior notes:
Washington Head Coach Brad Beller nominated Jaaron Gordon as the Defensive Player of the Week for his 10 tackle, including six solo stops, performance against Anadarko.
Beller nominated Dom Palumbo as the Defensive Lineman of the Week. He finished with three tackles and a quarterback sack.
Getting the nod as the Offensive Player of the Week was Josiah Dickerson, who rushed 16 times for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Adam Sharp was the nominee for Offensive Lineman of the Week. He graded out at 87 percent against Anadarko.
