The Washington Warrior softball team defeated Class 6A No. 1 Choctaw 14-7 on Monday.

Emjay Lucas had a six RBI day. The senior was 3-5 at the plate with a homer and a triple.

Kinzlee Pogue also homered and had three RBIs.

Julie Hoehner and Ava Salcedo both tallied doubles.

The Warriors didn’t score until the third inning when they put one run on the board.

They scored three points in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Then they scored seven more runs over the final two innings.

Washington tournament

Things didn’t go quite as planned as the host team last week for their softball tournament, dropping three of five games.

They had losses to Tecumseh (8-5), Mustang (20-5) and Cache (7-6).

They picked up wins over Norman North (19-2) and Valliant (11-3).

Against Norman North, Lucas was 2-2 with four RBIs. She had two home runs.

Daphne Palumbo, Halle Andrews, Olivia Palumbo, Shelbie Caveness, and Salcedo also had home runs in the game.

The Warriors blew the doors off the game early when they put up 15 runs in the first inning.

They scored one in the second and three in the third to cap off the run rule.

The Warriors, now 21-5, play Norman on Friday.
