McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter swore in a pair of new deputies to his department last week.
Originally from Bridge Creek, Brendan Fryrear has served in law enforcement for one year.
Fryrear has a wife and two dogs at home. He comes from a family with experience working in a sheriff’s office which inspired him to pursue a career as a deputy.
He reports the rewards of the job are making a positive impact.
“A challenge is trying to stay calm when your adrenaline is up during a high priority call,” he said.
Jackson Stepp is originally from Denison, Texas, and brings six years of laws enforcement experience to MCSO.
He and his wife have two children.
New to McClain County, Stepp said he is looking forward to learning about the area and serving the communities.
Stepp reports he is from more of a rural area and is accustomed to being outside of town.
“I like being able to help people who genuinely need it,” Stepp said. “Sometimes, punishment is not always the answer.”
Offolter reports the department remains in need of a detention deputy.
