Purcell Alumni Reunion Returns

Nearly two years removed from their last meeting, Purcell alumni will come together for another reunion this Saturday at Purcell High School.

“We’ve done so many different things in the past, but this year we’re just having a dinner,” said event organizer Pam Hobbs.

“We’re going to induct the newest class of the athletic Hall of Fame members that evening as well,” she added.

Hobbs stated that almost 300 former graduates had reserved meals ahead of time.

“It’s my 40 year class reunion and I think I’m most looking forward to seeing the people coming back. I enjoy seeing them happy and hearing about their accomplishments between reunions,” she said.  “Those are the things that bring me joy when I go to a reunion.”

Registration for this Saturday’s reunion begins at 8:30 a.m. in the high school’s commons area and will conclude at 12:30 p.m.

Soon after at 1:30 p.m., a memorial service will be held at Red Hill to remember those that have passed between reunions.

Finally, at 5:30 p.m., dinner catered by The Barlor OKC will be served for all who purchased tickets ahead of time.

For those interested in getting involved, Hobbs and her husband, John, are looking for committee members to help with future reunions.

“We are looking for a lot of people to come in and help us,” Hobbs said.

Hobbs also added a website with relevant information, including the alumni directory, is in development.

“It is not completed yet because we needed to wait until the reunion was done to update addresses... but yes, that will be forthcoming in the next three to four months,” she concluded.
