Washington will hold a public hearing January 13 starting at 6 p.m. so citizens can get acquainted with the proposed Water Standpipe Improvements project.
That’s the word from Town Administrator Mica Lunt.
The Washington Public Works Authority has negotiated an engineering contract with Myers Engineering for the planing, design and construction of the water Standpipe Improvements project.
The town’s current standpipe holds 95,000 gallons of water, which is inadequate to meet pressure and flow demands required by DEQ and ISO standards for fire suppression.
The proposed new standpipe would hold 300,000 gallons and be located on the existing easement at the old, nonfunctional elevated storage tank at Kerby Avenue and South Turner Street.
The new standpipe has an estimated cost of $2,870,600.
The engineering Report, along with environmental information related to the project, is on file and available for public inspection at Washington Town Hall. Interested parties should call the Town Hall at 405 288-2578 to arrange a time to view the document or stop by the Town Hall during business hours, Lunt said.
