Weekend thunderstorms dumped over 10 inches of rain in the Purcell area last weekend.
From Halloween night through November 4 10.2” of rain was recorded in downtown Purcell.
The 5.2” that was recorded Sunday was followed up with another four inches over night adding 9.2” for that two-day period.
Another .8” fell on Monday during the tornado outbreak, bringing the five-day total to 10.2”.
That brings the year-to-date total for Purcell to 50”. Normal for this time of year is 33.12” with the normal yearly total of 36.52”. Oklahoma City has recorded 33.27” this year.
There were at least five tornadoes, including a long track EF3, in the Oklahoma City area Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
Cole had a tornado warning Sunday evening.
A tornado formed over Wayne Monday morning. Sirens went off there, in Purcell and Lexington.
There was no reported touchdown.
From the Sunday morning storms there was some tree damage in Goldsby and some roof damage in Blanchard.
The worst damage from the storms was in Newcastle where their elementary gym had the roof blown off.
