Funeral services for Ora Lee (Mainord) Henson, 97, were held Sunday, October 11, 2026 with a Pie Fellowship at 10 a.m. followed by a “Remembering Ora Lee” service at 11 a.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell, Oklahoma. Burial immediately followed at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mrs. Henson passed away October 6, 2026.
Born in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Una Estes West Mainord and Edd Steve Mainord, she grew up on the family farm and graduated from Washington High School in 1948.
That same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Matthews Henson. Together they built a life of faith, family, business, and service. They established a successful commercial plastering business and Lubbock Building Supply in Lubbock, Texas, working side by side for many years.
Ora Lee’s Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully served in Baptist churches through music, teaching, and missions. She and Jerry traveled internationally on mission trips, and when she could no longer travel, she continued supporting others with the words, “I can no longer go. I will send you instead.”
A gifted seamstress, gardener, and music lover, Ora Lee found joy in creating beauty, caring for others, and spending time with family. She will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness, generous spirit, contagious smile, and unmistakable giggle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; and siblings, Morene and A.J.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Gwendolyn (Robert) O’Kelly, Teresia (Doyle) Walls, Matthew (Marsene) Henson, and Roxanne (David) Coursey; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, Missouri (Youth Scholarship Fund), or Union Hill Baptist Church, Purcell, Oklahoma (Student Ministries).
