Purcell’s annual Memorial Day Service, spearheaded by Purcell Mayor Jay Tate, will be held Monday, May 25, at Hillside Cemetery
Tate said U.S. Air Force Reserves Technical Sergeant Brayden Gulliver will be the keynote speaker at the 11 a.m. service.
Justin Blankenship will give the invocation and Tate will read Flander’s Field.
Purcell’s Police Honor Guard, consisting of Detective Jeremy Pittman, Detective Brayden Gulliver, Officer Jacob Martz and Officer Aleqzander Carrizales, will be on hand to present a gun salute at the service.
Veterans will be recognized at the service as their respective branch’s songs are played.
A meal will be provided for veterans and their families after the service.
Tate said in case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Multi-Purpose Building. He said to check Facebook to see if the event changes venue from the cemetery.
The ceremony will be posted on the Purcell Memorial Day Veterans Ceremony Facebook page after the service.
