The Lexington Lady Bulldogs were in the Roff tournament late last week where they picked up a 10-0 win over Madill. But, they dropped a 4-3 decision with Roff, a 4-3 loss to Tupelo and a 5-4 loss to Ada.

To kick off their stint in the Roff tournament, Lexington collected 10 hits and seven ribbies to beat the Madill Lady Wildcats.

Kora Parker was the leader at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. She had a double and two singles.

Maison Sissney and Kiely Givens each had two hits while Mackenzie Manuel, Baylee Rillema and Marisa Northup had one apiece.

Hannah Garrett was in the circle where she allowed just two hits and one walk.

The other three games of the tournament were close losses.

“The pieces of the puzzle are there, but we aren’t getting production when we need it. We are shooting ourselves in the foot and having to learn how to win,” head coach Monty Ervin said.

Roff

Manuel and Parker led the team with two hits in the loss to Roff. Manuel’s two hits were long balls in the first and seventh innings.

Tupelo

The Lady ‘Dawgs were knotted at 3-3 when a Tupelo batter hit a walk-off line drive to score one and win the ball game, 4-3.

The bright spot for the Lady ‘Dawgs was the chaos on the basepaths. They had six stolen bases in the loss.

Ada

Lexington outhit the Cougars 7-5, led by Sissney’s two. Givens, Parker, Northrup, Garrett and Abby Sample each had one hit.

“Most of our games have been really tight. We’ve lost nine games by 11 runs, so our biggest focus is finding ways to win games.

“We’re not a bad ball club. We just find ways to beat ourselves,” Ervin said.

Lexington was scheduled to host Lindsay on Tuesday and travel to Jones on Wednesday for their makeup game with the Lady Longhorns.

“I’ve told the team that we have to bring our ‘A’ game to  have a shot. Anything less than that and we shoot ourselves in the foot.”
