The Wayne Lady Bulldogs are in Stratford today for the District tournament with the Bulldogs and Mangum Lady Tigers.

Wayne will play Mangum at 1 p.m. and the loser of game one will play Stratford.

Bray Doyle/Fletcher

Wayne was in Bray Doyle on Monday for a three way with the Lady Donkeys and Fletcher.

The Lady Bulldogs picked up wins in both games. They got a 10-4 win over Bray-Doyle and a 6-4 win over Fletcher.

Head coach Nikki Herrin was pleased with her team’s offense in both games.

“We hit well yesterday. Allison had a home run; she’s been so steady for us.”

She also said that she felt like getting two more wins before starting Districts was helpful.

“I’m glad to get two more wins under our belt. It gives us some momentum going to Stratford. But also, if the team shows up like I know that they can, then we’re unbeatable,” Herrin said.

Konawa

Last Friday, Wayne was in Konawa for a double header with the Lady Tigers.

Konawa took the first game, 13-11, but Wayne won game two, 31-19.

Through two games, Wayne had 47 hits and 41 RBIs.

Konawa jumped out to a 10-0 lead after two innings in their first game of the doubleheader. But, Wayne chipped away, scoring two in the third, five in the fourth, and three more in the sixth.

The Lady Tigers added another run in the bottom of the third and two insurance runs in the sixth.

Wayne’s rally fell short of the win.

Emily Woody led the Lady Bulldogs, going 3-4 at the plate. Alyssa Hobson, Kaylee Madden, Faith Brazell, Lily Whitaker and Ava Stottlemyre each had two hits.

Madden and Stottlemyre also had three RBIs each.

Game two of the double-header finished more like  basketball score. Wayne won 31-19.

“We hit really well, but we did not play defense well,” Herrin said.

The Lady Bulldogs had Konawa in run-rule territory a couple times, but errors kept them from finishing.

Wayne had 30 hits and 31 RBIs.

Woody and Whitaker each had five hits. Hobson, Madden, Allison Ryan, Jordynn Debaets and Brysten Shephard had three apiece.

Shephard also led her team with seven ribbies.

Stottlemyre was in the circle for the win.

Allen/Byng

Last Thursday, Wayne was in Allen for a three way with the Lady Mustangs and Byng.

They dropped both games – an 11-4 loss to Allen and a 15-10 loss to Byng.

Ryan was in the circle for the loss to Allen. She lasted five innings and fanned one batter. Stottlemyre came on in relief for one inning. She also fanned one batter.

Wayne outhit Allen 8-7. Shephard had two hits to lead her team. She also had three RBIs.

Then in their second game, Wayne fell short to Byng, 15-10.

Despite Wayne posting two runs in the first and taking an early lead, the Lady Pirates started their scoring onslaught in the top of the third. They scored three runs to take the lead and they never looked back.

Wayne added two runs in the fourth inning, closing the gap to 5-4.

But, Byng added three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Wayne scored six in the sixth, but it wasn’t enough.

Byng added three more and cruised to the win.

Woody led the team with three hits while Madden led the team with four RBIs.

She singled in the first, homered in the third and had a fly out to center to score a run in the fifth.
