Jane Grasz, 88, of rural Lexington, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, at home.
Jane was born on February 8, 1938, in Sterling, Colorado, to Mary (LaSelle) and Leonard Jankovsky. She attended school in Ovid, Colorado. After graduating, she married Jesse Howard Grasz on June 17, 1956. Together they built a loving home and raised their children on the family farm near Chappell, Nebraska. After Jess’s passing in 1986, Jane remained on the farm until 1997, when she moved to Lexington.
Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her generosity, can-do attitude, resilience, and love for family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life.
Her hobbies, other than her love of reading, consisted of attending her grandchildren’s horse shows, and cheering at basketball and softball games, as well as hosting family dinners and holiday celebrations. Her main concern was always that everyone felt included and enjoyed the event.
Jane’s Christian faith was an important part of her life. She credited this to her youth pastor and attending bible camp as a teen, as well as a Cowboy FCA bible study. She was a life-long Methodist and attended the Lexington Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Tracy Grasz (Breck) of Lexington, Okla.; son, Steve Grasz (Verlyne) of Elkhorn, Neb.; daughter, Mary Grasz of Purcell, Okla.; her grandchildren, Brittney Buchs (Sam) of Purcell, Okla., Caylen Katz (Jeffrey) of Ceresco, Neb., Annie Hobrock (Jake) of Purcell, Okla., Nate Grasz (Brenna) of Lincoln, Neb., Jackson Grasz (Kayla) of Moorpark, Calif., Aubrey Grasz of Washington, D.C., and Tosha Lindemann of Winneconne, Wisc., and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Jane, Briella, Jesse, Stevie, Landon, William and Culper. She is also survived by her sister, Toni Wheeler of Sterling, Colo.; sisters-in-law. Helen Powell, Dorthy Krumm and Beth Cheleen, and brother-in-law, Victor Grasz as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess; her parents; son-in-law, Tim Taylor and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
Jane’s favorite verses were John 3:16 and John 14:6. She touched many lives, living out the Beatitudes daily and serving others wherever she could. She will be deeply missed.
Memorial services will be held at the Methodist Church in Chappell, Nebraska, on October 24, 2026. Memorials may be made to the Lexington United Methodist Food Pantry.
