Lexington first graders weigh in on the preparation

Editor’s note: The Purcell Register recently sat down with first graders from Lexington Elementary School to visit about Thanksgiving. The students were asked how to cook a turkey, what sides would they serve with it and what is their favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

Kingston Schmitt - You put it on the stove on hot for 30 minutes. He would also serve bacon and eggs. His favorite thing about Thanksgiving is, “people being nice to me.”

Beverly Burns - You cook it on a frying pan as hot as it could be for 50 minutes. She would also serve bread and she forgot the rest. Her favorite thing, “When I come over to Leon and Claire’s house.”

Aria Johnson - I don’t know. My uncle cuts his head off and then his legs. Mom takes out the heart and pulls the feathers out. You put it in the oven for one hour at 10 degrees. She would also serve mashed potatoes and salad. Her favorite thing is, “to go play with my cousins.”

Waylin Worley - You put in the oven for 20 minutes at six degrees. He would also serve buns, chips, hot dogs and a burger. His favorite thing, “to make hearts.”

Evelynn Ille - You cook it with meat in the oven at 30 degrees for 12 minutes. She would also serve ranch, grapes and tomatoes. She likes, “to get to stay with your family and to party with other family members.”

Eli Scott - You cook it on the grill at 70 degrees for 90 minutes. He would also serve pumpkin pie, “but I’m allergic to it; macaroni and hot dogs.” His favorite thing is, “I can eat turkey.”

Lakelynn Abbott - You put it in the microwave or the oven at 45 degrees. It kinda’ burns it but you like it anyway. You cook it for five minutes. She would also serve brown gravy, potatoes and some bread. She enjoys, “spending time with my family.”

Brandon Givens - You roast it at 95 degrees for one minute. He would also serve mashed potatoes, bananas and mac and cheese. His favorite thing, “is giving people things like cards.”

Hemi Sampson - You  cook  it in the oven at 47 degrees for 74 minutes. He would also serve mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. “I don’t know what you do but it is fun.”
