The Wayne Lady Bulldogs are in their final stretch of the regular season schedule. They were to host Rush Springs on Tuesday and be in Empire for a three-way with the Bulldogs and Bray Doyle.

District assignments are out and Wayne will host Sentinel (16-8) and Bennington (1-13). Games should start on Thursday, September 21.

Monday night Wayne picked up a gritty 1-0 win over Thackerville.

“Thackerville is a good, solid team. They’re well coached and we were evenly matched,” head coach Nikki Herrin said.

Their one run came from a solo home run by Faith Brazell in the fourth inning.

The Lady Bulldogs collected four hits, one each from Brazell, Taelyn Ringwald, Alyssa Hobson and Audra Watts.

Addison Clagg and Brazell split time in the circle. Clagg went two and a third innings and gave up just two hits. She fanned one batter.

“Addison got us two good innings. She’s done great in her role and she understands her role,” Herrin said.

Brazell came in in relief for four and two thirds. She allowed no runs and no hits and struck out six.

Last week, Wayne dropped a 9-5 loss to Allen.

The Lady Bulldogs collected 11 hits, including three each from Brazell and Ringwald.

Hobson and Ava Stottlemyre each had two hits while Cylie Jones had one.

Addison Keeler, Jordynn Debaets, Ringwald and Jones accounted for Wayne’s four ribbies.
