Education board primary February 13

The McClain County Election Board has announced that a Primary Election will be held for Board of Education Office No. 4 in Washington School District and Wayne School District February 13.

State law mandates a primary election be held if more than two candidates file for the same school board office.

The candidates for Washington School District Office No. 4 are: Clayton Colley, Adam Price and Ashley Teel.

The candidates for Wayne School district Office No. 4 are:            Shad Blackwell, Harvey Fisher and Ryan Morris.

According to McClain County Election Board Secretary Karen Haley, if one candidate receives more than 50 percent  of the votes, that candidate will be declared the elected official.

If no one receives more than 50 percent of the votes, the top two candidates will vie for the office in the April 2 Board of Education General Election.

Voters who are registered and reside at an address within the geographical boundaries of the Washington School District or Wayne School District are eligible to vote in both the Board of Education Primary Election and possible General Election.

Candidates who filed for Purcell Municipal Council Member Division 2 and will appear on the February 13 Purcell Municipal Primary ballot are:      Greg Wheat and Chris Hurt.

Candidates who filed for office but will appear on the April 2 General Election ballot are as follows:

Blanchard School District Office No. 4: Barry Carpenter and Cindy Spaulding.

Dibble School District Office No. 4: Stephen Swaim and Sheri Phillips.

Candidates who filed for office unopposed and will not appear on the General Election ballot are as follows:

Mid-America Tech Center Office No.5: Joe T. Ray

Newcastle School District Office No. 4: Jeff Dingee

Purcell School District Office No. 4: Holly Baker

The Candidate who filed for office unopposed and will not appear on the February 13 Primary election is as follows:   Purcell Municipal Council Member Division 3: Joseph Franco.
