After a week off, Purcell gets back into action Friday night for their first road trip of the 2023 season.

Purcell will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 2-0 Pauls Valley.

The Panthers are coming off a big victory over Davis after opening the season with a win over Lindsay.

The Panthers are a power spread team on offense with a bevy of H-backs and tight ends.

“They mix things up with their formations,” Purcell Head Coach Aaron Dillard reports. “They do a good job.”

On defense, the Panthers will be in an odd man front.

“They run some 5-2 and some odd stack formations,” Dillard said. “They change formations situationally.”

The coach said the key for Purcell is to match Pauls Valley’s physical style of play.

“We also have to get lined up properly on defense,” he said. “They throw a bunch of formation so our pre-snap matches have go be good. They have a whole bunch of H-backs and tight ends. We have to shut down their run game and make them one dimensional.”
