Dibble to construct new high school

A ground breaking ceremony at Dibble last week officially kicked off the new construction project for a new high school for the Demons.

School officials reported after 90 years of usage, the existing building was in severe disrepair.

School patrons voted in favor of the bond issue in 2022.

Superintendent Chad Clanton told the gathering in order to make room for the new structure, the old elementary school and weight room had to be demolished.

“On behalf of the Dibble Public Schools, I want to thank the community for showing support for the new high school,” Clanton said.

“We are replacing a building that was built in 1930 so we got our monies’ worth. We hope this new building will last that long.

“Although interest rates have been climbing, we do not expect this to result in higher taxes than what is currently being paid,” Clanton said. “Again, I want to thank the community for their support and for joining us in this important milestone.”

The new high school will include 10 classrooms, two computer labs, an art classroom, a science lab, a secure entrance, school offices and a safe room.

Dibble’s  Board of Education engaged Renaissance Architecture and Joe D. Hall as the General Contractors for the 19,005 sq. ft. structure.
