The Purcell City Council’s regular November meeting Monday paved the way to provide assistance for the new turnpike that will intersect with I-35 between the current north water tower and Johnson Road.

The council approved a resolution supporting the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s ACCESS Oklahoma Program and committing to coordination and collaboration with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and Oklahoma Department of Transportation for the construction of new turnpike facilities and interchanges along the South Extension Turnpike Corridor near the Purcell City Limits.

In other business, Council members approved removing the softball field project in the amount of $108,000 from the Capital Improvement Plan.

The board also approved the Municipal Judge Contract with James Dee Graves, which commences Jan. 31, 2027 and terminates Jan. 31, 2029. He is replacing William Deveraux who resigned.

In the Public Works portion of the meeting the board heard reports from Wadley’s EMS, Purcell Municipal Hospital and from Marcos Castillo, the Assistant Public Works Director.

The board approved an amended FY 2027 annual budget reflecting a $519,417 increase in outpatient professional service revenue, a $195,750.69 increase in contractual adjustments, a $60,000 increase in professional fees, an $81,000 increase in supplies, and a $229,656 reduction in SHOPP revenue, resulting in projected net income of $5,504.31 and authorized the mayor to sign the budget amendment.

The board also discussed a possible policy to provide relief for residents who are unable to play utility bills.
