Purcell’s City Council had a busy and productive June meeting Monday night at the Community Room of the Purcell Police Service Building.
The council voted to approve a $37,773,619 annual budget for fiscal year 2026-2027 and after an executive session, the council approved the labor contract for the fiscal year between the City of Purcell and the FOP#194.
City Treasurer Wynn Tyson-Kramer reported the city has a carry over of $748,974.
The council made two appointments to city boards and raised water and sewer rates.
The new rates for city residential are, from $12.25 to $12.99 for the minimum; rural residential from $20 to $21.20 and commercial from $20 to $21.20.
The sewer rates went from $13.15 per month to $19.73 per month for residential and from $20 a month to $27 a month for commercial minimum use.
All rates over the minimum are calculated for increments of 1,000 gallons or a fraction thereof.
Maria Jimenez was appointed to the library board to complete the term of Aurora Torres, who was unable to fulfill her role. The term expires December 31.
Jackie Suchy was appointed to the Cemetery Advisory Board.
The council approved submitting plans, specifications, application and engineering report form to ODEQ for water system improvements and sanitary sewer improvements for Southbrook Phase 2 development.
The board authorized the city manager to execute the residential subdivision reimbursement agreement with STK Homes LLC concerning Arbors Addition Phase 1 and approved the low bid of $145,000 from Exodus Energy, L.L.C. for Arbors Addition phase 1 electric infrastructure.
The council approved purchase of electric materials totaling $199,798.81 for Arbors Addition Phase 1. The breakdown is $833,699.40 to Wesco/Anixter, $69,780.09 to TechLine, $22,778 to Midwest Electric Transformer Services and $23,541.32 to EMSCO Electric Supply.
In his report, interim city manager Bobby Elmore said the new kiosk in the lobby of city hall should be open and ready for use this week for paying bills and the like.
Elmore said the Purcell Airport has hangar space available.
He said the fireworks June 26 will be double what they have been in the past.
On that day the Chickasaw Nation’s honor guard will present the colors at 7 p.m. followed by the singing of the National Anthem. There will be eight food and beverage trucks with the fireworks ticketed to begin at 9:45 p.m.
