Byars election August 8

Posted

Voters in the town of Byars will go to the polls August 8 to decide if they want to continue to have Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company be franchised in the community.

On the ballot will be the right for OG&E to franchise and be granted rights to sell electric power to the citizens. This includes the right to construct, maintain and operate a system of poles, wires, conduits and other facilities and equipment for 25 years.

Mayor Bo Cail said it’s the same thing the town did 25 or so years ago.

“We get the franchise tax off of the electricity sales,” Cail said.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
