Fun, food, fireworks & more at the Purcell City Lake

Posted

From food and fireworks to games and basketball, it’s all happening Friday at the Purcell City Lake .

The city’s observance will feature food, games and fireworks a full four days before the July 4 holiday.

Food trucks will be serving a variety of cuisine at Chandler Pavilion from 5 to 10 p.m.

There will be deluxe concoctions from Contrabandz Ice Cream Lab, traditional fair food from Carnival Eats & Treats and Oklahoma Kettle Corn.

Cool off with a stop by Mr. Yeti Snow Cones or go international with Vietnamese dishes at Monkey’s Food Truck.

Also available will be gourmet loaded tater tots from Some Like It Hot.

With your appetite whetted,  it’s time for fun and games, also at the Chandler Pavilion.

The lineup of activities will include sand volleyball, beach swimming and fishing.

Yaya’s Inflatables will be selling wrist bands to keep the kids jumping all night. Or at least until the fireworks show.

Heck Graphics will be set up for face painting.

There will even be a car show in the parking lot of the Multi-Purpose Center.

Registration will open at 5:30 p.m. Judging will start at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the 50-50 cash prize will be available.

The fireworks show begins at 9:45 p.m.

At 10 p.m., the city’s Parks & Recreation Department will host a 3 on 3 basketball tournament.

There will also be a free throw shooting contest.
