Posted

Two women, one from Texas and one from Michigan, were arrested Saturday night near Riverwind Casino in Goldsby on suspicion of illegal drug activity.

While on routine patrol in the casino area McClain County Deputy Shane McCraw came upon two vehicles backed up to each other in an unlit portion of the roadway.

The two females were outside of their vehicles when McCraw approached.

While the two females gave conflicting stories, McCraw could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicles and saw several large black trash bags in the back seat and trunk of one of the vehicles.

He confiscated over 100 pounds of medical grade marijuana with an estimated street value of $40,000.

One of the two women had her 11-year-old daughter in the car.

Arrested were Chawanna Mccaa, 30, of Pontiac, MI and Fatima Williams, 32, of Cypris, TX.

Both were charged in McClain County District Court with trafficking marijuana, child endangerment, acquiring proceeds from drug activity and conspiracy to commit a felony.

McCraw was aided in the investigation by K9 Narcotics Detection Team.

McCraw confiscated a large amount of cash from one of the arrested females.

The 11-year-old was placed in the care of a family member from another area of the state.

The investigation is ongoing, however, investigators believe the medical grade marijuana was headed for two separate states.
