For the first six months of 2025, Heart of Oklahoma residents almost wore out their rain gauges.

When 1.8” of rain was recorded here June 27th we had already eclipsed the annual rainfall measurement of 36.52”. On the 27th of June we had recorded 37.14”.

Additional rainfall came a day or two following, giving The Heart of Oklahoma 37.54” for the first six months of 2025.

Never in your wildest dreams would you have thought the spigot would be basically turned off after that.

The past 4 1/2 months of the year has yielded a paltry total under 5”, which covers the perennially wet months of September and part of October.

Since the end of June, 4.91” has been recorded.

The normal for Central Oklahoma for July through mid-November is 14.04”.

All seven counties in Central Oklahoma, including all of Pottawatomie and Seminole Counties, and parts of Oklahoma, McClain, Garvin and Pontotoc are affected. It includes most of Cleveland County.
