What’s the thinking?

Posted

There is really no rhyme or reason to the head scratching actions of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association.

What good has it done Washington’s girls to be ranked No. 1 and Purcell’s boys to be ranked No. 3 while the Purcell girls are No. 10 and the Washington boys are No. 16.

With all those lofty rankings the powers that be in the OSSAA are sending Purcell to play at unranked Lone Grove for the final games of the Regional Tournament.

Those same crafty thinkers are sending Washington to unranked Beggs for the final games of the Regional Tournament.

It’s not hard to understand why Purcell and Washington are not hosting.

They are not nearly as centrally located as Lone Grove and Beggs.

And that’s not to mention they both have small, dilapidated gymnasiums.

NOT!

I asked one coach about the situation and the reaction was, “I can’t speak for the OSSAA.”

No one can that has any sense of clarity or conventional thinking.

The latest blunder move by Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters is to remove the photos of teachers who are in the Oklahoma Education Hall of Fame.

Janet Barresi pulled the same shenanigan and remember how popular she was.
